Description:
BACKGROUND
They said his real name was classified. They said he would help to save the lives of other soldiers if he volunteered for the project. Did he really have any other choice? The explosion had torn his arms and legs from his body. All he was now was a lump of flesh that was no good to anyone. He told them he would do it.
He got his arms back. He got his legs back. He also lost his humanity. With the strength of his new body, he escaped the military hospital and went on a rampage through the streets of Chicago. It was only be luck that he didn't kill anyone. The Chicago press dubbed him 'The Buffalo' because of his thick body hair and the horns protuding from the sides of his head.
That was twenty-four years ago.
Billy Bia sat in the sweat lodge and chanted the Blessing Prayer, his mind recalling those early days. The days before the white bison came to him and gave him back his humanity. Buffalo had disappeared into the desert of Arizona but Billy Bia emerged, with the Bison now within him.
He returned to his people, the Navajo, and returned to what was left of his family. It had been many years and only his elderly aunt and uncle remained on the Res. They did not question his return with new arms and legs, but took him in and he began his quest for peace.
His uncle, a medicine man, helped his Spirit heal and taught him the lore he had tried to deny when he had gone into the army. His aunt taught him the plants and herbs that could heal and the way of the animals. She passed along her greatest gift, the gift of 'Communing with nature' and he could speak to all living things. He worked hard to rebuild their rundown home and his skills with carpentry became known. All over the Res he would appear and make repairs, never asking for anything but a cup of water and perhaps a sandwich. When his healing powers became known, he would be called to help the sick and wounded and his people began to rely on him. There was no riches to be had on the Res, but they gave him what they could and he never refused a request.
One night in the spring, a late snow storm caught him miles from shelter. It was here the white bison appeared again and gave him the power of the bison, the power to return to his hated 'Buffalo' form but without the loss of his humanity. He knew he would have to take up the mantle for his people and so, Bison was reborn.
POWERS/TACTICS
Bison is not quite a straight forward brick. The Call the Lightning comes as a complete surprise most of the time. He hesitates to use it unless the situation is extremely dire. As a brick, his primary attack is the Move-Through as one would expect from a bison.
PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION
Billy Bia went from a lost young man with no future, caught up in the dispair of the Reservation to a soldier. As a solder he had a purpose but the purpose was lost when the explosion nearly killed him. His willingness to be a test subject was a combination of dispair and a real hope that his personal tragedy could be changed into something good. The Buffalo that emerged was a mindless, raging creature that was manipulated by those with a stronger will but inside, Billy Bia was trapped. When the white bison came to the lost Buffalo, Billy's humanity returned and then some. Ashamed by his actions as Bufflao, Billy Bia works hard to help the people he felt he had once abandon. Now with the Bison free, Billy plans to right many wrongs.
