Description:
Ave is 5'5" tall and about 135 pounds with black hair and the dark eyes of her South Pacific ancestors. She is also very tanned, with an athletic build that includes a few well-placed curves. On the beach, in a white bikini, even is the Mission Bay area where beach girls as common, Ave turnes more than a few heads.
BACKGROUND
Ave is 19 and in her first year at UCLA. Occasionally goes out with Green Peace or other groups to the site of oil spills. She has been diving with Nat and Wren when they travelled to the Great Barrier Reef. It still makes her tear up remembering the condition of those fabulous reefs. Ave is to the ocean what Ern is to the land.
POWERS/TACTICS
As is has turned out, the two, potentially, most powerful members of the Minuteman Project have landed together in Team Blue. Ave is the master of water, which could mean a wave to put out the fire in her home, or … inundate a good stretch of any coastline. Yes, she has the ability to call up a massive tsunami capable of devastating some 25 miles of any coast in the world. This is classified as Top Secret for obvious reason.

Short of complete devastation, she is capable of far less grand-scale feats including the fire extinguishing, and the small wave she created at Mission Beach when she met Nat Ryan and Wren Collins. She is also capable of throwing balls of water with sufficient force to injure a target or create something similar to a water cannon that can push things around. One other ‘secret’ power she can use has only been shared with Nat Ryan … her ability to create a ‘helmet’ of water around a target’s head and effectively drowning them. While the thought of using it does scare her a little, she has assured Nat that in the event of a life and death situation where an innocent might be endangered, she will not hesitate to use lethal force.

There is one drawback to her powers … she needs a source of water for things to work. If a natural source of water is available, this is not a problem. If open water is not nearby … well the pipes under the street work just as well … usually to the annoyance of the people at public works.
PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION
Samoa isn't exactly the education capital of the South Pacific what with having only a single community college. Nor was it known for its challenging choices for work. Ave, at 14, already had a plan in her head. She was going to go to the mainland and get into a great college to study marine mammals. Both of her parents worked for the US government, something of a rarity, in support of the small contingent of US military personnel still stationed there. Those jobs gave her family a higher standard of living then almost all of her friends but she was a realist and knew that college on the mainland was a pipe dream.

At least it WAS a pipe dream ... until the fire.

When Special Agent Miller arrived on a military flight and drove directly to the home of her grandparents where her family was staying, it took Miller exactly three words to recruit Ave into the Minuteman Program ... FREE COLLEGE ANYWHERE.

Her parents always knew Ave was brilliant, in fact, her perfect grades more than showed her to be a cut above just about anyone on the island. Her instant acceptance of a free education was not a surprise. All the 'surprise' had been exhausted for the family two nights before, when a wave rolled up the middle of the street without touching a thing to either side. It crested, towered over their flaming house, and then broke, extinguishing the fire instantly. Though flooded, with a burned out kitchen, the house was saved. A local news crew caught the whole incident on tape. It went international within hours. Samoa had a meta-human and Special Agent Miller wanted her.

Ave is pretty mellow and rarely gets excited or upset. She can also be stubborn and really hates confrontation. Her favorite food is just about any seafood and she prefers Coke. Her favorite movie is Underworld and favorite movie genre is vampire movies, to go along with this, she reads Urban Fantasy and her new favorite author is Kim Harrison.

Ave is ready to accept just about anything the government throws at her in exchange for a shot at UCSD’s Scripps marine biology program. A few years playing guardian of the nation? No problem. She’d study hard and work hard … with a little surfing on the side. Life was just about everything she'd ever dreamed.
