Description: | |||||
Not long after Wren Collins ‘transferred’ to the government operated high school on Point Loma, San Diego, a freelance photographer snapped two photos of her at perpetual beach party before being chased off by a half dozen of Nathaniel’s surfer buddies. Already well-known to the tabloids overseas, the single picture of her, bikini clad, on the cover of that week’s Enquirer increased her recognition factor in the southern California city. Realizing Wren’s celebrity would be a problem once the Legacy team began to operate, Nathaniel insisted she don some form of disguise to hide her identity. Since she immediately vetoed any form of mask they decided upon simple stage makeup. Unsure as to whom they could trust, Nathaniel contacted James ‘Ice Hawk’ Hawkins and in a very short time a makeup expert arrived from Hollywood. The result did absolutely nothing to hide Wren’s beauty but the shaggy dark red wig and few subtle prosthetics altered her appearance sufficiently to fool all but her few friends. In conjunction with the red, white and blue form-fitting leather body armor and long trench coat Wren Collins became invisible behind Giselle. |

BACKGROUND | |||||
For the longest time, Wren Collins refused to take a codename as not only didn’t they seem to fit her but more often made her wince visibly. Zach suggested Gravity Queen and discovered just how much he liked gravity after watching an airliner pass by at nearly 40000 feet. Slater suggested Gravi-lass and it was only at Alicia’s insistence that Wren NOT put him in orbit that he escaped bodily harm. It was Nathaniel that found the answer. One night, not long after he had met Wren, they sat together watching a ballet with Wren patiently explaining the story. Giselle. Wren is 21 and in her third year at UCLA. |

POWERS/TACTICS | |||||
Giselle’s capacity to control gravity has improved markedly. Not only has she strengthened her powers but, with Nathaniel’s help, discovered subtle variations. Once only able to cancel gravity enough to allow an object to slowly float up she has found the power to actually use gravity to repulse an object allowing her to hurl something into the stratosphere. Though she has been afraid to test it on a living creature she has been able to render an object weightless apparently on a permanent basis. For her single test she made a 55 gallon oil drum weightless and watched it slowly sail out of sight. In the news the next day was a report of a UFOC, Unidentified Flying Oil Can, which was intercepted over Edwards Air Force Base to the northeast of San Diego. Reports stated the trash can was approached at 53,000 feet by an F-22 Raptor and ordered to land. It did not comply. Wren speculates the corollas effect of the rotating Earth will eventually place the can in orbit and possibly beyond. Zach suggested she offer her services to NASA for launching the shuttle. In conjunction with her dance, Wren has learned to control gravity’s effect on her allowing for fantastic leaps she will never be able to display on stage but which allow her to all but fly. On occasion she has also minimized the gravity for Nathaniel, and with Wren in his arms, they have covered vast distances in minutes. Finally, at Nathaniel’s insistence, Wren has agreed to wear a supple leather body suit backed with Hawkins Inc. latest ballistic mesh to reduce the likelihood of an injury before she is able to erect her Gravitic Shield. Again at Nathaniel’s insistence, her Giselle wig has also been lined with the same weave. In concordance with her dance, Giselle has become something of a master of Savate, the classical French style of kick fighting. Though she is nowhere near as accomplished as Venatrix, she is quite able to handle herself in nearly any physical confrontation with every expectation of coming out on top, as Nathaniel can attest. |

PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION | |||||
Four years have passed since their hasty departure from the Valley and Wren’s life has been very different from what came before. The rock-solid dedication of Nathaniel Ryan has finally proven to her such things as love are possible. Though they remained in separate rooms for the first two years it eventually became obvious it was not from a lack of willingness on either’s part but Nathaniel’s fear of injuring her. After their night together in Cabo San Lucas Nathaniel was finally confident that it was possible for Wren to sleep in his arms without danger of his crushing her and from that point, their relationship has strengthened. The other ‘change’ has been the bi-weekly visits to the White Tree in the Valley. At first Wren refused to go but after Everith pleaded with Nathaniel to bring her, she discovered how much she’d missed the angelic teacher and agreed to accompany Nathaniel on the next trip. Surprisingly she discovered true friends. Everith, of course, but also Kyle, whom she came to love like a brother, and Rogue became like a sister, even the fearsome Nick proved to be an interesting creature. Within a month’s time the trip to the Valley had become a reason for little parties but when James showed up one day with Pam and little Becky it became like an extended family. In San Diego, in the Legacy, Wren found another family but in this case she played mother to Nathaniel’s father as they struggled to mold their ‘children’ into a cohesive team. The addition of Brittany and Kena has added the kid-sisters and at times Wren found out exactly what it was like to be the mother of rebellious teens. It made her smile to think that not long ago, she’d been that teen. So this was responsibility. Giselle’s attitude has shifted as her relationship with both Goliath and her team gives her greater confidence and sense of responsibility. While she remains as snarky as ever she has begun to accept the duties her country is asking of her and is less likely to verbally respond when being given orders. Of course it isn’t always the case. With Goliath’s coaching she is also becoming more comfortable with her powers and often sees alternate possibilities for their uses nearly as quickly as her lover. On the public side, her time spent at the beach near their cottage has come to the attention of the paparazzi and though her friends try to deter photographers, they are not always successful. Tabloids and entertainment gossips are rife with speculation as to just how long it will be before some major studio approaches the stunning young woman with a movie contract. Privately, she has no intention of following either her mother or father into their chosen professions. She tells Nathaniel she’d probably be a total bitch to work with. He just smiles and agrees. |
