Character Name: Christiana Gilchrist
Alternate Identities: Venatrix
Player Name: Noelle Renee Echterling
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 145 lbs
Christiana Gilchrist has long blonde hair, usually pulled back in a ponytail, with lively blue eyes. She is 5'10" tall and weighs a solid 145 pounds. The last five years of training show, her body is lean, less than 2 percent body fat, and hard with the muscles of an athlete. She moves like a cat, every step precise and smooth but there are times she forgets her training and becomes just another teenage girl, complete with the insecurities of youth. She has a girl-next-door beauty that has a number of her classmates, classmates not in the special section of the school, drooling over her. None of her friends, those in the Legacy, realize it is they that keep any number of boys from asking Christiana out.
Christiana is the daughter of Catherine and Jordon Gilchrist. Her father was more properly addressed as Professor Gilchrist, Doctor of Theology, University of San Diego while her mother was more commonly addressed as Lt. Catherine Gilchrist of the San Diego Police Department. Both parents being devout Roman Catholics gave their daughter the name Christiana after the Lord Jesus Christ.
When the child was five years old the Archbishop of Los Angeles came to visit and sat for over an hour with little Christiana perched on his knee. He searched her face and spoke to her so softly her parents did not over hear his words but in the end he seemed very pleased. He took them aside and told them Christiana had a duty to perform in the future that only a chosen few would every come to know. He promised they would be given a special teacher to aid the girl as she grew. So impressed were they at the words of one so high in the Church that they never asked what Christiana's destiny might be.

Catherine Glichrist strode into the room coming to a stop three steps from the door. Her eyes grew hard as she surveyed the carnage. Five bodies lay as if lifted by a hurricane and dropped at random about the room. One had landed inside the huge aquarium, bursting its sides, another was rolled into a ball behind a wet bar. Gilchrist looked down at the little girl that lay at her feet like a broken doll. She was no older than her own ten year old daughter, Christiana. The child's throat had been ripped open by a monster, a powerful monster able to hurl three full grown and heavily armed men around as easily as straws. It was her job now, to find that monster.

Jordon Gilchrist opened the door, already knowing something terrible had happened. A limo had drawn up to the front of the house a few minutes before he was to depart for his morning classes. The Archbishop had come with only his driver and thrown the professor's life into Hell. Within ten minutes a confused Christiana was bundled into the long black Lincoln where she sat beside the Archbishop. Without explanation she and her father were taken to a small municipal airport between San Diego and Los Angeles to be placed on a white Gulf 5 with the logo of the Vatican emblazoned on the fuselage. Twelve hours later they touched down in Milan.

Christiana stood with her hands clasped before her and stared at the most beautiful woman she has ever seen. Tall, slender yet muscular, with a mass of deep red hair that seemed more a mane, the woman was dressed in a black body suit piped in red with silver crosses scattered across her body. A thick leather belt encircled her narrow hips and a sword hung down her left side. She regarded Christiana for a long moment then spoke "I am the Magdalene and you will be my student."

The twin Bishops hurled daggers simultaneously from opposite sides. Christiana's body bowed and the daggers crossed a half foot from her nose. Deftly she caught both by the hilts and by uncrossing her arms, sent them back to the Bishops. She did not miss but the daggers bounced harmlessly from the ceramic plates that protected the chest of both men. A sharp clap brought all three around to face the beauty in black and red leather. A thrill of pride ran down Christiana's spine as the Magdalene smile at her and said "Come."

The girl sobbed under the protective arm of the older woman. The Magdalene would have rather cut out her own heart that to so wound this girl but the truth had been confirmed by three different sources and it must be told, at least to Christiana. After five years of searching the Church had discovered what had happened to Catherine Gilchrist that night and now it would be the daughter who must see to the Mercy. Catherine Gilchrist was a vampire.

Christiana slung her book bag over her shoulder and marched toward the main building of the school. Two other young people, a boy of extraordinary height and a girl of extraordinary beauty fell in step beside her, obviously bound for the school's administration office as well. The boy had two book bags that looked, though as overstuffed as hers, light as a feather to him. When they reached the door, he hurried ahead to pull it open, the girl that was with him acting as if it was expected. He did not let the door go but continued to hold it for Christiana and when she looked up at him as she passed he flashed her one of the kindest smiles she'd ever seen.

The young giant sat cross-legged on the grass beneath a windswept pine tree, the girl with the movie star face leaned her back against his body her knees drawn up to support the book she was reading. He watched Christiana as she moved across the quad looking for a place to sit. His gesture to her seemed a genuine invitations but she hesitated until he shrugged. She stepped up onto the stone wall to reach them and sat just within the shade of the tree half a meter from the two. The boy grinned, displaying brilliantly white teeth in a face as tanned as any she'd ever seen. His voice was softer than she expected when he spoke. "Hi, I'm Nat and this is Wren."

Nat sat with his legs outstretched on the coffee table that seem to spindly to support his weight. Wren was tucked under his arm as usual her legs drawn up beneath her and the rest of the team had taken positions around what had once been called a 'conversation pit'. Christiana looked around at her friends, pensive. Slater sat in an old armchair with the tattooed Alicia in his lap. Blue-haired Fuji flipped off the Gameboy and tucked it in her pocket while Zach Toron paced in hs usual nervous way. Tempest popped the top of a can of soda and took a long swig. Christiana took a deep breath and said "My mother is a vampire . . . and I have to destroy her."
Unlike her friends, Christiana is not a metahuman. Her abilities do not come from a fluke in genetics but rather a Gift from God. Throughout the centuries there have been born the few destined to become the warriors of God. Most live their life never knowing it. When Christiana came to Milan after her mother's disappearance, she was a normal ten year old girl with a considerably better than average body physically. She was already far stronger than girls her age but was also stronger than the boys. When she left Milan five years later she was one of the most physically perfect human beings in the world. She was stronger and faster than the greatest of athletes, non-super powered human athletes. But Christiana's world was also populated by metas and the supernatural. It was her training that truly lifted her above even many of the not quite pure human.
For those five years in Milan, she was taught by the masters of the Catholic Church, not masters of the theological but the masters of combat. Her mentor, the woman called the Magdalene. Was she truly Mary Magdalene? Not even the Church would dare to speculate, all Christiana knew was that the woman lived for only two things, to fight the evil of Satan in all its forms and to teach Christiana all she knew. When the Magdalene came to Christiana with the news of her mother's Fate the girl knew what was really being asked. Could a girl of fifteen face the ultimate challenge? Could she hunt down her vampire mother and give her the Mercy of death and free her Soul? Christiana was ready to do this for the mother she'd loved but Nat told her she would never have to face it alone.
Chris is determined, serious, and dedicated, when she's got her game-face on. But she's also lively, friendly and just fun to be around once she remembers every hour of every day isn't a battle against evil.
Motivation? How about being told from age 5 that you are a warrior of God? How about discovering that vampires and demons are real? How about your mother being turned into one of thos monsters? Chris has all the motivation she needs ... and now, true 'metahuman' back up.
