Of course I grew up with the Uncanny X-Men, what player of Champions didn't. And, naturally I have my favorites but will not go into that. Many years ago, in the Adventure's Club, HERO published a conversion chart for Marvel Super Heroes to Champions. Seeing this sent me into a flurry of creativity. One small problem, with few exception, the average Champions hero would kill the average Marvel hero in a matter of seconds. The skills and attack powers were fine or could easily be set up at my game level but the defenses . . . So I fudged a great deal to make the Marvel heroes playable. Disadvantages were fairly easy but Hunteds were too changeable so I made them all about the same. As I use Genocide constantly, that was a given, but the other groups are from Marvel's own works. The teams for the X-Men do not reflect the current roster . . . sorry but I have gotten very behind on my comic collection, in fact, years behind. As a result the teams are out-dated and I have no expectations of updating them. In fact I like them the way they are. I am not going to even attempt to tell the tale of the Uncanny X-Men nor will I provide individual histories, for this has been done far better than I could ever hope to do by Marvel. For those X-men Fans that know nothing of Roleplaying and Champions, please understand that the history of the X-Men in my campaign is divergent from the ‘official' Marvel history. Think of these pages as a look into an alternate dimension and the X-Men presented here as an 'alternate' version of the Uncanny X-Men. |

The Wild Hunt and the Uncanny X-Men |
|
Ghost Archer's
first encounter with a member of the X-Men was during a visit to New York.
Genocide, HERO's answer to the dread Sentinels, were hunting a certain
mall rat named Jubilee. The Archer, responding to the presence of
a mortal enemy, rescued Jubilee from a Minuteman (a Sentinel type robot).
The two hit it off. Archer's curiosity led him to take the girl to the
local mall's food court for fries and a soda. It wasn't like Ghost
Archer had never heard of the X-Men or their off-shoot teams but it was
his first opportunity to met a member. Archer told Jubilee the tale
of the Wild Hunt and invited her to the Manor to meet the other members
but she declined.
It was several months later that Archer received a telepathic communication from Professor X requesting help. The School for the Gifted had once again been leveled and the X-Men were without a home. Xavier had taken note of the Archer's activities against Genocide and Jubilee's report of her meeting with the bowman had lead him to believe the Wild Hunt would aid the mutant team. It was a difficult time for Ghost Archer, his lover, Megan Pierce had left him and most of the Wild Hunt had scattered to the four winds. Professor X and the X-Men provided the Archer with an interesting new diversion. Over the next few months every member of the groups affiliated with Xavier's School spent a good deal of time at the Hunt Manor. The loneliness of Ghost Archer and Rogue drew the two together and Archer's ability to resist Rogue's absorbing powers for short periods resulted in a strong attraction between the two. However, Gambit held too much of Rogue's heart to allow her love the Archer and they soon excepted the fact and are now the dearest of friends. On one of his many visits Daimon encountered Psylocke in the Hunt's Danger Room and the attraction was immediate. The two have been an 'item' for several years now and Daimon's daughter Brittany thinks of Betsy as her mother. |
