Description:
JJ is a short, slender, read SKINNY, man of about 30 with a thick shock of auburn hair and hazel eyes. He has no concept of style, prefering slacks and button-down shirt, to something more comfortable. He clomps when he walks and wears faux-cowboy boots that zip up. He wore a moustache for many years but a casual comment by Libra about men with hairy faces had him shaving it off within the hours. Now he shaves regularly but not always particularly well, often leaving small patches of whiskers particularly along his cheek bones. He is attractive with an elfen cast to his facial features and looks as if he would have pointed ears. He has a smirk that drives Pisces up the wall but so far she has refrained from slapping it off of him.
BACKGROUND
James J. Moore was born in the tiny little Tennessee town of Mossy Creek to John Wallace Moore and Emily Taylor Moore on February 7, 1892. Poor and with no prospects of ever being more than a farmer, James joined the Army in 1916, only to be sent to Europe a year later to fight against the Germans. Now . . . no one said James had to abide by the law to further himself in the world and it came easy for the backwoods boy from Tennessee to worm his way into the US Army's thriving black market. He started out small, acting as a courier, running merchandise for the supply officer but soon he saw a wider opportunity, war loot.
Sent on an errand by his captain to a chateau outside of Paris, James drove the battered Model T pick-up truck through the oddly violent storm up to the mansion. In the flashes of lightning he found the first of the bodies, a butler stretched just inside the blasted door of the house. Stepping over the body he pulled the M1911 45 caliber pistol, racked in a shell, and called out a hello. Silence between claps of thunder was his answer. Moving slowly from room to room, he found a cook, maid and a boy of about fifteen, all seemingly blasted by lightning. The hair on his head rose as if from a static electrical charge and he spun around, firing. A single .45 bullet thudded into the chest of a tall, oddly dressed man with a golden mask covering one eye and he crumpled at James' feet. Moore froze, staring at the body. He'd never killed before. A phantom wind exploded, blowing all the windows in the room out into the storm. A low chuckle rocked the 'dead' body and the man slowly rose to his feet. James Moore was terrified. He held the .45 out at arms length, the barrel wavering on the man's chest.
“You have signed your death warrant," the cultured English voice said from beneath the gold mask “for you have chosen to assault Aquarius of the Zodiac!"
The man rose from the floor, hovering three feet from the ancient Persian carpet upon which he had so recently bled. A hand came up and arcane words tumble from the man's mouth and James felt death reaching out a hand. The pistol in his fist exploded, the remaining six rounds cooking off as tens of thousands of volts arched from his hand and struck the surprise conjurer. Screaming in real agony and, something new for him, real terror, the man called Aquarius was hurled through a window and out into the storm. Moore followed, feeling a surge of strength welling up in him and demanding release. Out on the rain swept lawn Aquarius was just struggling to his feet. Before he could even look up, Moore unleashed a second bolt and sent Aquarius into the void.
Breathing hard, James Moore stared at his hands, the burn marks from the exploding automatic painfully evident. The smell of ozone brought him back to the moment and he wished idly the rain would stop and lo, it did, just like that. The stars of early evening winked down at him and the body of the man in the golden mask. What was Zodiac, he wondered, and why did this guy call himself Aquarius? Kneeling beside the fallen man he checked the pause as he had been taught in basic training. This time he was truly dead.
POWERS/TACTICS
Aquarius if the team's AOE master capable of covering huge areas with his weather powers. He is able to slow movement to a crawl by covering the ground with a layer of ice or pull in a fog so think most people can't see any further than a hand in from of their face. He can cover a city in blistering heat or blanket it in a blizzard but is also quite capable of raining lightning bolts down in a small area or deafen a small crowd.
PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION
James, more commonly called JJ, can be a contrary and annoying man but he his also loyal and honorable. At times he will climb on his high-horse and ride it until it drops yet at other times he is the most amiable of souls. The other problem he has is the almost total inability to make a fucking decision and because of this none of his teammates will go out with him unless someone else does the driving. Simple things like which way to turn at the corner or which paking space to take seem to ellude him. He tends to suffer from regular bouts of 'love' and generally this is aimed at a woman he has placed on a pedestal. the problem is, he has no idea how to either join her up there or get her down so is luck with women has always extended to only the occasional 'hire'. His current infatuation is with Libra as he not only finds her sexually attractive but also appreciates her clever mind.
Two things stir him, antiquities and chess. The world considers him an expert in the first and his teammates consider him easy meat in the second though he does beat the computer on a regular basis however this is due to a re-programing by Taurus that he is unaware of.
As for his motivation for being part of Zodiac? Two things again. First, he needs to belong to a group and second, he need to feel superior the most of the rest of the world. The money they bring in is nice and it gives him an opporuntiy to go on digs but even without that it is the group. His family is long dead and they are his substitute.
CAMPAIGN USE
Aquarius is an AOE expert and acts as 'crowd control'.
