APPEARANCE
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 158 lbs
Description:
Ryan is not unattractive; he just doesn’t know what to do with what he has. Dressing in old jeans, pullover sweatshirts and dirty running shoes, his bland brown hair and bland brown eyes make him innocuous. Thank God his skin cleared up before he started college.
BACKGROUND
“Just give her this Pepsi,” Ven told Ryan, handing him a bottle.
“What in it?” Ryan inspected the bottle but found it pristine.
“Nothing that will hurt her,” Ven assured him.
“And I get five thousand for that?”
Ven had come to him after the party and offered him a deal. All he had to do for $5000 has give Ivy Nichols a bottle of Pepsi. Of course something was in it. Who would pay that much if it were harmless?
Ryan scratched his unshaven chin. Five grand would get him that new XPS laptop he wanted. No way could his parents come up with that kind of cash. Still, Ivy was hot as hell and he didn’t know what Ven had in mind for her but he could imagine. Shit . . . maybe he could give her the Pepsi then not call Ven for an hour or two. Images of Ivy naked on his bed made him burn.
“Okay,” he agreed. “You transfer the cash when I call you. I don’t see it go in, you don’t get her.”
Ven grinned. This was just too easy. “You got it!” he said, clasping Ryan on the shoulder like a buddy. Ven was already planning his night with the girl and girl night after he was finished.
Ryan’s was suddenly filled with anticipation. Ivy Nichols . . . he was going to lose his cherry with Ivy Nichols.
Ven drained his beer and tossed it at the trashcan, missing by a yard.
     “She’ll be here tonight, right?”
Ryan nodded. “Yeah, her and Gail were sorta friends.”
‘To bad about Gail, man,” the other commiserated. “She was a hot bitch.”
Ryan winced at his words. The guy had no respect for the dead.
Without another word Ven stalked off looking for another beer and Ryan contemplated the night’s coming adventure with Ivy.

She showed up a short time later, dressed like always. Like a Catholic school girl. Only the skirt as way shorter and the blouse way tailored to fit her body. Nervously Ryan watched her, waiting for a moment to step in and talk to her. It didn’t take long.
Ivy waited for the car that dropped her off to pull away than headed for the dorm. Ryan was waiting for her. As she got to him he hesitantly hugged her and fought back tears. She reciprocated the hug, dry-eyed.
“Are you okay, Ivy?” Ryan’s voice was choked with emotion.
“Yeah, why you ask?” Ivy looked over his shoulder at the small crowd gathering.
“You just look . . . numb” he replied.
He maintained the hug a moment longer in silence then released her and put an arm around her shoulder.
“Guess it's been a pretty hard week for you losing both your father and a friend . . . its okay Ivy you can cry. . . I'm here for you.”
Ivy just nodded her mind elsewhere. Ryan guided her in and introduced her to Laurell and Rick Cramer, Gail’s grief-stricken parents. As Ivy spoke to the couple, Ryan glanced around the room and picked up a mug with Gail’s name on it. Her parents had wanted her friends to have whatever was in the room as remembrances. It seemed all Ivy was left with was a small barrel cactus in an adobe pot. Ryan smiled, thinking how appropriate that seemed.
He held out a hand to Ivy “I'll put that in my room till we get back.”
Ivy nodded, smiled slightly and let him take the plant. Ryan returned a moment later as the small group began to file out of the dorm. The Cramers had asked all of Gail’s friends to join them for lunch at a local restaurant. It was only a couple of blocks and an hour and a half later all were back at the dorm. As the group drifted apart, Ryan reminded Ivy of the cactus and led her to his room.
The day had been a typical California Indian summer day, hot and dry and so when Ivy looked around for something to drink, Ryan took his shot.
“They ain’t got nothin’ here but beer,” he said with a shy smile. “I got Pepsi back in my room. Want a bottle?”
Ivy gave him a grateful look and said “Sure, that would be nice.”
Ryan turned and headed for his room, not sure if Ivy would follow him but she did. He didn’t notice the tiny cat that flitted from under a chair to trail behind them.

Just out of Ryan’s line of sight, Ven smiled and crushed the beer can. About damn time! He headed for the parking lot at a trot.

She took a seat at his desk in the chair in the room and Ryan played around in the mini fridge with his back to her, than produced a Pepsi and Mountain Dew. With a Church key he removed the tops and held out the bottle to Ivy. She took it and without hesitation, took a sip. Her brows knitted and she looked at the bottle.
“Something wrong Ivy?” Ryan asked solicitously.
     “This tastes funny.”
“Can't see why, let me taste.”
He took the bottle and tilted it back as if drinking then handed it back to her.
"Tastes fine to me." He said with a shrug and sat on the edge of the bed.
Ivy accepted it back and tasted it again. Shrugging herself, she listened to Ryan’s babbling about their classes together as he watched the level of the bottle go down.
“I don't feel so good,” Ivy declared suddenly.
“Maybe you should come over here and lay down for a moment.” Ryan offered, getting up. He started to take the chair but whatever it was acted fast. For a moment Ivy seemed fine, if a little green, then she was flat on her back.

Ven pulled his truck up to the side entry to the building and sat there waiting for the call. It would only take a few minutes and she would be out. Pulling his cell out he sat it on the dash.

The world began to twist and Ivy thought she was going to throw up but suddenly she was lying back on the bed and Ryan was hovering over her, tugging at the buttons of her blouse. He seemed to be having trouble and she thought she should help him but couldn’t get up the energy. He’d just have to work it out himself, she thought.

Ryan finally figured out the buttons were backwards from a man’s shirt and got the first two undone when the heavy fist pounded on the door. He jumped off the bed, his face flame red and called out.
     “Who is it?”
“Me you moron,” Ven hissed. “Let me in!”
Crap, thought Ryan. There goes his shot at Ivy. He scowled. And there goes his money unless Ven paid him before he got in.
“Where’s my money?” he said through the door.
As he spoke he stepped to his computer and touched the mouse. Instantly the screen came to life and his bank account information showed up.
“Alright,” Ven said, his voice angry.
Out in the hall he dialed his cell and keyed in a series of numbers and five thousand dollars appeared in Ryan’s account.
Ryan opened the door and stood back, letting Ven step by him to the bed. He reached down and pulled her blouse open, popping off a button and exposed her lacy bra.
“This is gonna be good,” he muttered, then grabbed her hands and hoisted her up and over his shoulder her skirt riding up. Ryan got a good look up before Ven turned and headed out the door.

The cat flitted ahead of the man with the girl over his shoulder and leaped unnoticed into the back of the truck. A moment later the girl landed with a thump a few inches away.

Ash growled “Stay with them, Noir, I am going to talk to this Ryan.”
He headed back to the dorm, Zeus straining on his leash, surprisingly strong for his size.
“Find him, Zeus,” Ash let the dog have his head and followed. When Zeus stopped at a door and growled Ash struck the door with the head of his staff.

Ryan smiled as he checked his bank balance for the tenth time then jumped at the knock. He minimized the display then turned to the door.
“Yeah?” he said as he pulled it open.
A tall, angry looking man with sandy hair and a goatee jammed the head of a staff of what looked like ivory into Ryan’s throat. The man pushed him back across the room and up against the computer desk. The door slammed shut even though the man hadn’t touched it.
“What the fuck, man?” Ryan’s voice quivered a little.
In answer the man pushed harder, forcing Ryan to bend backward over the top of his computer monitor. Ryan recognized him . . . Ash Darke, from the party the other night. Under his back the monitor popped and acrid smoke bellowed up around his body.
“Where'd they take her and WHO paid you?”
Ryan’s face went white. “What are you talking about?”
An increase in the pressure on his Adam’s apple cut off any further words.
“Zeus.” Darke said as Ryan gagged.
Suddenly he forgot about the stick jammed into his throat. A small fuzzy brown dog leaped at his crotch and before Ryan could move, clamped down on his testicles. Needle sharp teeth pierced denim, cotton and flesh. Ryan screamed in pain.
“Easy Zeus,” Darke said, not looking down at the dog. The grip slackened. “Now that we have you attention . . . “
“Call him off! Call him OFF!” Ryan shrieked.
“He loves Ivy enough to rip those off for her.” Darke warned, with a nod to the dog. “He'd make them a present to her.”
Panic took over and Ryan began to stammer “I . . . I . . . don't know where they are taking her.”
“Who paid you?” the voice as calm, the anger gone.
     “Ven!”
     “And who is that?”
“He’s the head of the Wiccans!” Ryan’s voice rose an octave.
“Where can I find him?” Darke spoke softly.
“The dog, man,” Ryan gasped. “Call off the dog!”
     “Where?”
     “Usually at his grandparents’ house!”
“Where is that?” Darke’s voice grew dangerous. “Zeus is hungry and I am impatient.”
Ryan spat out the address. “You were there, man. At the party! That was his grandparents.”
“If you lied . . .Zeus will come back and eat,” Darke said. There was a pop and the TV began to smoke. “Zeus . . . let him go.”
The dog chomped down a little before releasing and Ryan screamed again. He fell to the floor his hands cupping his mangled manhood.
“If you call them to warn them, I’ll come back and beat those to jelly before Zeus gets to you.”
Through watering eyes Ryan stared at the dog, terrified, then nodded.

News on campus the next morning was of a house fire over in Half Moon Bay. Only one killed, a man named Venice Di Vicchio. The body was found in a set of stocks not unlike those used as punishment in the middle ages. The police had no clues and as the house was so isolated no witnesses.
Ryan was horrified.

Three days later Ryan awoke, his heart pounding and found the ugly old man looming over him. The eyes looked hungry and the man constantly licked desiccated lips. His voice sounded like dry leaves in a wind storm.
“For your services, I will give this.” The man held up a belt with hair on one side.
Ryan started to speak but could not. As if drawn by some force, he rose from bed and took the belt from the gnarled hands. Still staring at the figure before him, he looped it around his waist and everything changed.
POWERS/TACTICS
Though all of Ryan's power is in the belt, the confidence it has given him has made him a little more dangerous then anyone would expect. With the use of surprise he has developed a rather vicious blow he has already used on more than one occasion, including against his female victims.
PERSONALITY/MOTIVATION
Ryan Shockley is one of those guys that spends more time playing games on the internet than anything else. He is a gaming geek and computer nerd. The thing is, he really isn't all that great at either. Sure, he can run rings around any non-geek but against his peers, he is merely average.
Until the hexenwulf belt, he was a quiet, shy guy willing to help out anyone for a little attention. From the moment he’d laid eyes on Ivy Nichols, he'd been in lust. She'd never look at him twice, he knew, so when the thing with Ven came up, he figured way not? Besides, there was the new XPS laptop.
Since the belt, Ryan has become rude, belligerent and down right mean. His newly acquired forcefulness has shocked more than a few, especially the jock types that had teased him. The first to abuse him after the belt needed plastic surgery to repair his broken nose. So suddenly had it happened that he never even got in a return blow and the snarling coming from Ryan made it unlikely he would seek any retribution.
